A know-how back to the Mayans
These pigments derive their source from the activity of the Mayans more than 15 centuries ago.
Thanks to their knowledge of their environment and local materials, the Mayans knew how to create inorganic-organic hybrid pigments. They knew the secret of protecting vegetable colors thanks to control of processes and temperatures.
The balance between the three parameters temperature-concentration-time allowed them to obtain a wide range of colors from the two starting compounds: clay and dye.
After more than 15 years of research and thanks to advances in analytical techniques, the researchers of PIGM’Azur have succeeded in manufacturing these pigments by reinventing an ancient process and adapting it to today's technologies by using green chemistry processes.
